Starting early means healthy teeth for the future...

Newly erupted teeth have yet to complete their enamel maturation and until this occurs, they are vulnerable to acid attack. A twice daily application of Tooth Mousse will boost the levels of calcium and phosphate in the saliva and replace mineral loss.

Useful Tips & Advice

• Tooth Mousse - Applying Tooth Mousse twice a day with a finger will provide a surface film that will raise levels of essential minerals (calcium and phosphate) as well as inhibit the growth of caries causing bacteria.
• Healthy eating - Once an infant is on solid foods, it is important to start an early pattern of healthy eating. Emphasize fruits, vegetables and whole grains (in an appropriate form for babies, of course).
• Do not put babies to sleep with a bottle. Milk, formula and juice all contain sugars that can cause baby-bottle tooth decay. If you feel you must give a bottle when your baby goes to sleep, only fill it with water.
• Brushing - Start brushing your baby's teeth twice a day when the first tooth appears. The most important time to brush is just before bedtime. Use a soft baby toothbrush such as the Colgate My First toothbrush and put a dab of toothpaste on the brush. The dab should be the size of a rice grain. Plunket recommend babies start off with a 1000ppm fluoride toothpaste such as the Colgate Sparkling Mint Gel.
• Visiting your Dentist - Check the teeth frequently for signs of decay, such as discoloration, spots or stains. If there is a problem, take your child to the dentist. Otherwise, the first dental visit is recommended between age 1 and 2. An early dental visit will help identify and prevent decay, gum disease or other potential problems.
